We believe that access to education can transform a girl’s life
We support young women in the Indian state of Sikkim by funding their education—from kindergarten through college. We ensure that each young woman that we support has a home at the Sikkim Happiness Home where
she has access to meals, healthcare, and a community of mentors and friends to help her thrive.
Our goal is to provide her with the opportunity to chart
her own path and inspire her to make a positive difference in her own community and within her own culture.

Education Funding
Full funding from kindergarten through college fees, uniforms, tutors, and placement support.

Sikkim Happiness Home
A safe residential home where girls access meals, healthcare, and a lifelong community of mentors.

Community Empowerment
Graduates return to lead. Each woman becomes a beacon for the next generation in her village.

Exceeding Expectations
When we started Taraloka, our assumption was that some young women from the Sikkim Happiness Home would want to go to university, but we also expected a most to go to trade school or return to their village after high school.
We underestimated the degree to which our young women in college inspire their younger sisters! Almost every high school graduate chooses to attend university. Figuring out how to fund such a high rate of college attendance is a wonderful challenge, but your kindness can help us keep
saying “yes” when a young woman wants to attend college.
Long-term commitment
Each young woman is confident she has our support and commitment to her future - from childhood to college and often graduate school.
Cultural Integrity
Our girls and come from unique cultures in the mountains of Sikkim - with different languages, customs, and religious perspectives. Our goal is to support those differences.
Belonging
Education is important, but not the only support system we provide. Safe refuge, healthcare, mentorship, and an incredible community of
sisters create a true home.
GRADUATE VOICES
"The process of becoming a scientist is difficult, but I am always grateful to my sponsor and Taraloka for making this dream come true. I hope one day I'll be able to support someone like me who is not so privileged."
